Lake Forest Residents' Trash Rates On the Rise

Beginning in July, waste disposal fees will be $0.15 more per quarter.

Beginning in July, it will be a little more expensive to take out the trash.

Residential trash rates for the year will jump $0.15 each quarter starting in July, according to information from Lake Forest city staffers.

Lake Forest, like a handful of other Orange County cities, is serviced by trash behemoth Waste Management.

The cost of WM's services, which are specified in a waste disposal contract the city has with the Orange County government, includes an annual rate adjustment based on the Consumer Price Index.

Based on that adjustment, the monthly residential rate is scheduled to rise $0.05 from $13.71 to $13.76.

As a result, residents will see a solid-waste rate increase of $0.15 on each quarterly bill.
