Parks & Rec Likes Garden Park, Wants a Look-See at Dog Park

In time, residents can likely expect all the parks currently being considered.

The parks situation in Lake Forest seemed to get a little more blurry last week, but there seemed to be a consensus among the five Parks and Recreation commissioners that the city will eventually have a dog and garden park.

And probably an arena soccer park as well.

One of the agenda items included an update on the dog park, but during public comments proponents of the Garden Park made their case and it seemed to go over well with the commissioners, much like it did with City Council

What emerged was that there are three sites the commissioners wanted to look at more fully, Darrin Park, Normandale Park and Vintage Park.

During discussion, Darrin Park seemed to be the leader for a potential dog park site, but commissioner Jim Rosenberg advanced the idea of a centralized location—such as at the Sports Park—that would serve all masters, with dog and garden parks near the sports fields.

The commissioners agreed they would personally check out Darrin Park, which is 3.1 acres and can be accessed from Cherry Ave., off of Trabuco.

The commissioners didn't rule out dog runs as part of Lake Forest's future, either.
