'Shop and Dine' Gets State Org Award

The city's inaugural Shop and Dine Lake Forest Week earns statewide recognition.

A partnership between the city of Lake Forest and the local business community has been recognized for its success by the California Association of Local Economic Development.

, a citywide marketing program that involved more than 200 businesses that discounted their services and goods to encourage local shopping, received an Award of Excellence from CALED.

According to the statewide economic development organization, its Awards of Excellence program is intended to recognize projects and programs that have made "significant contributions" to the field of economic development.

The inaugural 2011 Shop and Dine Lake Forest Week made it into the top tier of CALED's Economic Development Promotions category thanks to an interactive website, media campaign and mailers sent to 30,000 Lake Forest addresses, among other aspects of the program.

The city is already planning its 2012 Shop and Dine Week. Lake Forest businesses interested in participation in the free marketing program should email economicdevelopment@lakeforestca.gov.
