Rising Rent Relocates Veterinary School

On Thursday, the Lake Forest Planning Commission OK'd the school's move to Spectrum Pointe Business Park.

Rising rent has pushed a vocational school for veterinary assistants out of Foothill Ranch to a less expensive facility in Lake Forest.

The Professional Veterinary Assistant School is moving from its Towne Centre Drive location, where is has operated since 2008, to the business park at Spectrum Pointe Drive.

On Thursday, the Lake Forest Planning Commission approved the relocation plans.

"We like Lake Forest," said Dr. Sheri Candeletta, the school's director. "I hope that this will be a good facility for us and for the community as well."

The adult school will relocate its classroom, library, lab area and offices into two suites within the 3,413-square-foot space at 21 Spectrum Pointe Drive.

While the cost of renting only miles away proved unsustainable, the move to Spectrum Pointe will benefit students with more room for training—and more parking, Candeletta noted.

Her fears that the school would flounder in the down economy have fortunately proved unfounded, she said, as interest in the school's training services has continued unabated.

The commission voted unanimously in favor of the move.
