No Students Allowed: Grad Night Preview Is Wednesday

Have a soon-to-be El Toro High School graduate? Take a firsthand peek at where they'll spend graduation night.

At many high schools, the traditional graduation ceremony is now followed by another growing tradition: that of Grad Night, a supervised celebration at the school.

Intended to keep students safe as they celebrate their transition into the next phase of their lives, Grad Night at  begins at 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

"Our seniors get a night to remember, while we get to relax knowing they are in a safe environment," said Lisa Mawson, one of the event organizers. "We appreciate all our local busineses and parents who donate their time and money to make this happen."

But the night before, parents—and that's parents and other local adult residents only —are invited to check out out the extravaganza that's been under construction at the school since Thursday.

Adults ages 19 and older are invited to attend the preview, which El Toro's seniors will see for the first time late Thursday, post-graduation.

The Wednesday evening event is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the high school, with check-in at the front of the gym. A $2 contribution is "optional but appreciated."

This year's theme, reflected in the set and scenery put up by volunteers, is "Passport to Adventure."
