Homecoming: Watch El Toro Take on Garden Grove

The Chargers celebrate homecoming with a football game Friday and dance Saturday.

Watch the 5-0 Chargers football team take on Garden Grove Friday evening at El Toro High School's homecoming game.

The game starts at 7 p.m. at the football field at Trabuco Hills High School, where El Toro plays its home games.

When the team last met Garden Grove, on Oct. 7, 2011, El Toro sent them packing following a 42-7 rout.

So far this season, El Toro has defeated Huntington Beach, Clovis, CanyonPalos Verdes and Valhalla.

At the Valhalla game, El Toro star quarterback Conner Manning (who committed early this summer to play for the University of Utah) set a new county record for single-game passing.

Ticket sales start 5:30 p.m. Friday at Trabuco Hills High, 27501 Mustang Run, Mission Viejo.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. At halftime, El Toro will crown this year's homecoming queen.

Ticket prices are as follows:

  • General admission (including middle school students): $8
  • Elementary school students (age 10 and younger) with adult: $5
  • Preschool children: free
  • El Toro students without ASB card: $8
  • El Toro students with ASB card: free
  • Visiting students without ASB card: $8

As part of homecoming week celebrations, El Toro students have been dressing up for school each day based on a different theme. On Friday, students will don blue and gold to show off their Charger pride.

Friday is also the last day students can buy tickets to the Homecoming Dance on Saturday. The dance, themed "Dancing Late in the Golden State," is from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at El Toro High in the lower quad.

Students looking for community service hours can meet at the ASB office to help set up the dance Saturday morning at 9 a.m., and clean up from the dance Sunday at 9 a.m.
