La Madera to Celebrate 35th Anniversary With Carnival

La Madera Elementary School invites the community to celebrate the milestone at its annual Halloween celebration.

A Lake Forest school is doubling up on its annual Halloween carnival with the addition of a birthday bash celebrating the campus' 35th anniversary.

Community members are invited to celebrate the milestone at La Madera Elementary School from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Families who stop by the school, at 25350 Serrano Rd., will find a haunted house, carnival games, prizes, music, a cake walk, bake sale and raffles.

Going through the carnival's haunted house is a "rite of passage" for La Madera sixth graders, said PTA volunteer Marcia Langstaff.

Attendees can also peruse the school's annual Silent Auction, one of the PTA's major fundraisers. Volunteers have put together a variety of gift baskets on which families are encouraged to bid, organizers said.

All proceeds go to maintaining and supporting La Madera's educational programs, according to organizers.
