Are You Scared of Heights?

I'm the "Gutsy" woman but when it comes to heights, I'm a big baby.

I don't know why I don't have a fear of flying, but when it comes to the tram in Palm Springs, a ski lift in the mountains, or a hot air balloon, my legs get shaky, and my palms sticky.

This frustrates me, as I want to try more "gutsy" things, but heights are not my thing.

A few months ago, I looked out the oval window of my Air Tahiti Nui Airbus on its way from Paris to LA. We flew over Greenland, at 36,000 feet. As I stared at the beautiful snow capped mountains, there was no fear on my part whatsoever.

Why is that?

Now if I had to jump out of a plane, that would freak me out.

So I tried the helium balloon at the Great Park in Irvine, and all of a sudden, at 200 feet, my grip tightened and I kept saying, "Look straight ahead, don't look down and you'll be fine." I couldn't wait to get back down, and grew angry that I wasn't enjoying myself.

The view of the Saddleback mountains was fantastic, but I couldn't see the Irvine Spectrum. I thought I would have a wonderful 360 view of Orange County, but perhaps fear glued me to one spot.

So for those of you who are scared to go up 400 feet in a helium balloon, I want to share my video, so you can get an idea from your comfy armchair.

Please share your own fears wih me. Are you a bungee jumper, a parachuter, or do you prefer to stay at ground level?
