Diary of a Charger: Looking Forward to Saturday's Big Game

El Toro High water polo goalkeeper Emily Browning shares her journal entry for week ending Feb. 18.

Hello again,

This past week has actually been pretty entertaining. Last Friday after practice I went to Disneyland with some of my friends. Saturday I slept in and then went to a roller skating party. I haven't been roller skating in a long time and getting to dress up in '80s clothes and skate was a blast! Sunday the weather was nice, so me and my friends decided to head off to the beach. My overall weekend was very fun and relaxing. Valentines Day my teammate brought me a giant balloon and teddy bear that I got to carry around all day, and later that night I had a delicious dinner with my Mom because it was her birthday.

I was glad that we only had four days of school because I am sick and it has been hard to focus in school. Unfortunately, a lot of our players have been getting sick but I don`t think that will affect how we play. With being sick, I still found some time between water polo and sleep to study for my tests that I did end up doing good on.

I am in such a good mood right now because on Thursday we had our first round of CIF against Westlake and won! It was nice having such a big crowd of parents and friends there. Saturday we play Santiago at 1 p.m. in the quaterfinals. The game is going to be at home, so I am hoping a lot of my friends will come to support us. I am really pumped for the game, I think my whole team is looking forward to playing. This is the first time in three years (I think!) that we have made it past first round. Maybe this will be the first time girls El Toro High School water polo wins CIF? We will see!

Thanks for reading,
Emily Browning
