Diary of a Charger: Out of the Prep Pool and Into the Club Pool

El Toro High water polo player Emily Browning shares her journal for the week ending March 4.

Hello everyone,

This has been a pretty plain week for me. Last Friday night I went to Disneyland with some of my friends from school. We had a lot of fun except when it started pouring! We ended up staying there longer because it was not crowded at the park.

Saturday my sister Jessica, who plays water polo for Cal State Bakersfield, had a tournament so my Dad and I went to watch her play. I always love watching my sister play because its nice to watch college water polo and see all of the talent in the pool. Saturday night I went to Saddleback Church with a few of my friends, then went home to get a good nights rest. Sunday I watched my sister play again and then I practiced driving with my Dad. I passed my permit test in December, so lately I have been practicing driving a lot.

Nothing exciting has been happening at school other than the Dodgeball Tournament. My team does not play until Monday.

Since my high school polo season is over, I had my first club practice last Tuesday. Club water polo is always interesting to be able to play with a lot of other talented athletes from other schools. Our club consists of girls from El Toro, San Clemente, Santa Margarita, Laguna Beach, Dana Hills, and many other high schools. Sometimes it is weird to be playing with them in club when they were your high school rivals! We have a ton of tournaments for club that are coming up. Most of them are to prepare us for Junior Olympics, which is in summer. Last year my 16U team got 4th place out of about 30 teams. I thought we did extremely well compared to previous years and I am very much looking forward to this year. As for now all of us are just trying to get to know all of the new people to the team and are learning how to play with each other.

Thanks for reading!
Emily
