Diary of a Charger: Time to Bid Adieu to Senior Teammates With Laughs, Tears

El Toro High sophomore water polo player Emily Browning shares her journal entry for the week of March 18.

Hi everyone!

Wednesday night was when it finally hit me that high school water polo was over for this year and I would never be playing with our seniors again. Wednesday was our banquet for water polo and it was a night full of laughs and tears. It started off with the video slide shows and baby pictures of our coach. Then our coach gave awards and talked about our team. But once it came down to senior speeches the whole table of varsity girls were in tears.

I think the funniest part of the night was when our coach read off surveys we filled out individually. They had questions like, "What was your first kiss like?" and "If you had any wish in the world what would it be?" None of us took it seriously and we put down silly answers, such as talking about our boyfriend Justin Bieber. Our whole team has bonded a lot this season and everyone at our school can agree that we are all practically the same person with same personalities.

I am going to miss my sister Nicole, who is a senior, a lot. She drives me every day and we share a lot with each other and I am happy to call her my sister. The varsity team of 2010-2011 will always be kept as a strong memory in my life. Next year it will be time for us underclassmen to step up our game if we want to win league and CIF.

As for the weekend coming up, I have games for my club team up in Santa Barbara. We get to play at UCSB for our first two games and I am hoping that me and my mom will have some time to explore the campus between games. It will be our first games with our new 16U team and I am very much looking forward to them!
