Football: OC Top 10 After Week 2 and Patch's Vote

JSerra is the center of the universe. Oh, Mission Viejo is no longer No. 2.

By Martin Henderson

For the first time in its history, JSerra has cracked the Orange County Top 10 in the weekly poll of 10 media members. The Lions are coming off a 49-31 victory over Huntington Beach and debut at No. 9, sandwiched between Orange Lutheran and Tesoro.

Less newsworthy, Mission Viejo knocked Mater Dei out of No. 1 by virtue of its epic 28-25 overtime victory over Ramsey (NJ) Don Bosco Tech. What a game!

MARTIN HENDERSON'S VOTE FROM PATCH.COM

1. Mater Dei (3-0) Modest start against Carson gives pause, but Monarchs remain the team to beat.

2. Mission Viejo (3-0) How devastating would it have been to blow 13-point halftime lead?

3. Servite (2-1) Scored decisive victory over La Mirada, which has also lost to Tesoro and La Habra.

4. Santa Margarita (1-2) Eagles finally break into the win column, so that's a monkey off their back.

5. Edison (2-0) Chargers had a bye week to get ready for Servite.

6. La Habra (3-0) Highlanders aren't afraid of anyone, but the real big win over a Pac-5 team has been elusive. Play Mission Viejo this week.

7. JSerra (2-0) Yours truly has voted for JSerra in the top 10 since Day One.

8. Trabuco Hills (3-0) Mustangs get a solid victory over Fountain Valley, which is much improved.

9. Tesoro (2-1) Lost to Chino Hills, but Chino Hills is rock solid—and the Huskies bring the wood.

10. Orange Lutheran (3-0) Lancers make the Trinity League five-for-five in OC ranking.
