Summer Camps for Lake Forest Kids Start Soon

Children get to visit a California hot spot each week during camps hosted by the city of Lake Forest.

Eight weeks of summer camp for local children run by the city's Recreation Department at begin in July.

The Lake Forest Rocks summer program takes place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at the park, 21701 Pittsford Drive.

Children can participate in any or all of the weeks of camp, according to organizers. Each week of camp includes two mini-excursions and one big trip.

"We’ll be doing other fun activities as well such as games, skits, team competitions, and every Friday we’ll have a [barbecue]," said city recreation coordinator Melissa Alves.

This is the fifth year of the summer program, which maintains an 8-to-1 camper-to-counselor ratio, according to Alves.
