Handmadens Boutique Donates $2K to Breast Cancer Nonprofit

Breast Cancer Solutions, a nonprofit founded by Lake Forest woman Heather Gilbert, is the beneficiary of raffle ticket sales from an annual holiday boutique in town.

More than $2,000 from the annual  is going to a Lake Forest nonprofit that supports local breast cancer patients as they undergo treatment.

Proceeds from raffle ticket sales from the shopping event on Nov. 4 and Nov. 5 are being donated to Breast Cancer Solutions, which supports cancer patients with financial challenges.

Handmadens has regularly donated money to BCS for the past six years. This year's donation is a record amount from the organization, according to BCS founder Heather Gilbert.

"In those six years, a total of over $8,250 has been raised through the partnership of Handmadens and BCS," Gilbert said. "These funds help provide assistance to local breast cancer patients who face financial challenges while they are unable to work during treatment for breast cancer."

Volunteers from BCS helped out at the two-day boutique, which took place at the Lake Forest Beach and Tennis Club.
