Businesses Boost Nonprofit Holiday Efforts

Companies are getting into the holiday spirit by helping out local organizations that assist the needy.

Lake Forest businesses are doing their part this holiday season by helping local nonprofits who care for the needy in Orange County. Some are raising money, others are collecting cans of food for the hungry or toys for children who might otherwise go without a holiday present.

On Friday, ServiceMaster Restoration AAA is asking those who attend its  to bring cans of food to donate to the Lake Forest food pantry run by .

The business, which is marking its move to a permanent home at 28 Rancho Circle, is also holding an open house after it formally welcomes customers to its new location.

Stop by  with four cans of nonperishable food items for  or one unwrapped new toy for  for a free breakfast from 9 to 10 a.m. through Dec. 12.

The hotel is one of program by serving as a drop-off point this year.

Over at the , 100 percent of proceeds from the sale of watch batteries through Dec. 19 will go to  to purchase turkeys for holiday meals.

Community-minded co-owners Jack Levenson and Christine Anzell set a goal of raising enough money for 100 turkeys, but say that area residents have responded so enthusiastically they expect to be able to double their donation to the local homelessness-prevention organization.
