A look at what's going down and coming up for Lake Forest and residents of the surrounding area.

• A special meeting of the City Council takes place Tuesday as existing council members will discuss how they intend to replace Peter Herzog, who resigned at the conclusion of last week's meeting. The council meets at City Hall Tuesday, 6 p.m.

• If something along the lines of Shark Tank is more interesting to you, Tuesday you can watch and network at the Marconi Automotive Museum in Tustin as entrepreneurs pitch their ideas in front of a panel of judges for a chance to win $10,000. Cox Business and Inc. Magazine are teaming together on the project, called "Get Started O.C." Click here for more details. The event begins at 5 p.m. at the museum, located at 1302 Industrial Drive, Tustin.

• Another option on Tuesday is an estate planning workshop to protect your children and their future at The Wine Artist, 21064 Bake Parkway, Suite 100. It will include wine, artisan cheeses and legal advice. The event is being hosted by the Soto Law Group. Click here for more details about the workshop.

• Saddleback Valley Toastmasters will meet Tuesday night at Carrows in Laguna Hills. Click here for more details

• Thursday, 7 p.m., is a meeting of the Planning Commission of Lake Forest.

• Not only is Friday another important South Coast League football game, but it may turn into one of the events of the year. El Toro High hosts its first on-campus game in its newly constructed stadium playing Trabuco Hills. For those who don't know, all of El Toro's previous varsity football games were played at Trabuco. Both team are coming off disappointing losses to Tesoro and need a victory if they have any hope of making the Pac-5 playoffs.

• The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano this week features William Shatner (yes, that William Shatner) on Friday as he performs his album Ponder the Mystery in its entirety. Thursday will be a performance by The Mavericks, and on Saturday Stephen Kellogg.

• Saturday morning is an opportunity to take the easy 3.6-mile Red Rock Canyon Hike for ages 7 and up. It's $3 to park and $3 to hike, but it includes a snack and water bottle. Meet at the Borrego entrance to Whiting Ranch. Saturday afternoon and evening will be the Hallow's Eve Bowl Jam at Etnies Skatepark. It's $20 the day of the event. Call Community Services for details of both events, 949-461-3450.
