Five Things: Farewell Fair and Councilman Fights Back
The following are five interesting things to do or know in and around town today.
D23, a three-day convention for fans of all things Disney, kicks off Friday with various previews and discussions about The Walt Disney Co. and its affiliated theme parks, films, TV shows and other products and services. D23 will also feature appearances by the casts of Disney Channel Shows, an exclusive screening of the new film "Planes," a behind-the-scenes look at the famous "Mary Poppins" and more. The convention runs through Sunday. Anaheim Convention Center, 800 W. Katella Ave.
The Orange County Fair continues through Sunday with pig races, deep-fried food, carnival rides, exhibits and more. Friday's highlights include the Damsels of Destruction Demolition Derby at the Action Sports Arena, Rebelution, Matisyahu and Collie Buddz at the Pacific Amphitheatre and Fleetwood Mac tribute band Rumours at the Hangar Entertainment Arena. Saturday's highlights include the Orange Crush Demolition Derby at the Action Sports Arena, a charity concert by Roger Daltrey of The Who at the Pacific Amphitheatre and Oingo Boingo tribute band Dead Man's Party at the Hangar Entertainment Arena. USA.gov is encouraging drivers to download the Safer Car from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The app lets drivers look up a vehicle’s crash test results and get notifications of important car recalls or new safety information.
