A hit-and-run accident in the San Fernando Valley. Photo credit: Rick McClure.

I don't care if someone is here legally or illegally when it comes to hit and run. I think this isRead More a great system suggestion. I wish I had a way to install a GoPro system in my car that would capture three minute segments in 360 degrees. Kind of like a black box in aircraft but also have an image file in addition to a systems analysis file. This sure would help in determining blame in an accident....

This is funny a complete political segue for a Commi Democrat / Liberal to introduce more ways toRead More apply taxes. i.e. additional $15.00 DMV fee to pay for Yellow Alerts.

This is a great idea but why do drivers hit and run I believe many don't have insurance or are underRead More the influence of drugs and alcohol no drivers license or registration, undocumented and drivers with warrants. We have the technology to take many drivers off the road remember it's a numbers game with hit and runners. How about on your license tags we start putting chips that send out a signal when your insurance is cancelled let's say after 15 days or license is suspended or a warrant is issued that would alert other drivers and law enforcement via the electronic road alert signs.think about this when you drive in the fast tract lanes your transponder sends and receives a signal which chargers your account but also alerts CHP that you don't have a transponder or possibility are a single driver in violation of the law. Along with a camera that would only take a picture for violators. Believe it or not most of the technologies are already in place in most cases we just need to combine and in prove the technologies already in place. This would also deter drivers from stealing your tags because there's is expired. This is a much different world we live in then years past. I was born in the 40s and raised in the 50s we had respect for others and family and not to say most of us don't but for the ones few that don't respect life and would leave you to die on the road side let's get them off the road.this technology could also block your cell phone from working if you don't have a hands free device in place. One last thing start noticing how many drivers just don't stop at a red light or stop sign they just slow down and roll through what don't they understand that Stop means Stop.

Physicians are not good business people, you can tell by the appointment setting practices. If yourRead More appoint is at 10, you'll get in the room by 10:30 and sit and wait until after 11. Isn't it our Government that grants citizenship to all cultures that come into the States? - IfRead More maybe they were more stringent... and there you have it. When I have to reside in other countries, I have to jump through serious hoops just for a work visa, and I was invited. Hmmmm... did you know that when other countries are here on a holiday visa and have a baby the baby is granted immediate citizenship... then they fly back to their home country to raise the child... instant access. Yeah, we'll let anybody in and deal with the problems like this...

Firefighters were called to Mission Viejo High School Thursday after a man was found unresponsive and likely electrocuted. Another man was also injured in the incident. Photo courtesy Orange County Fire Authority.
Shirley Dicktor July 18, 2014 at 06:50 pm
Why the autopsy since he was electrocuted?
Amanda LaRosa July 19, 2014 at 05:50 pm
As is the case in so many matters, how he came to contact the 'hot' (charged) wire(s) could have aRead More bearing on liability. For example, the victim could have had a heart attack, fell onto the wire and as his weight caused the wire to disconnect from its source (with electricity still flowing through it from the other end's connection) he touched the wire as he fell or slumped. In this scenario there is no negligence, only a tragic accident. In another scenario, the scaffolding could have been constructed in such a way that pressure was placed on the wire, causing it to disconnect and come into contact with the scaffold, making the victim's electrocution a matter of negligence on the part of whoever constructed the scaffold. Note: These examples are provided only as an illustration of why it may be important to establish the victim's health at the time of injury.

^^ That's what i'm wondering as well. She wanted an abortion. She had one. I will say kinda lameRead More that she was just given Tylenol when she was having cramping...they should've known she was experiencing an abortion. But what are the damages here?
Penny Arévalo July 18, 2014 at 04:00 pm
They have to investigate every death in an OC jail. These are just the results of that inquiry.
Gwynne Snee July 21, 2014 at 09:49 pm

This is what happens, when you have the cheapest labor, doing work,,union organized laborRead More may cost more, but a life is not worth loosing.
imcjl July 20, 2014 at 09:40 am
RWO, ridiculous comments as no one knows the cause of the accident yet. Blind loyalty to unionsRead More such as your comment suggests is one of many reasons behind the decline of unions in this country. Plenty of work injuries and deaths with Union shops controlling job sites....some even leave their victims in pylons holding up bridges...
Janie D. July 22, 2014 at 06:59 pm
imcjl...I could not agree with you more! As if electrocution doesn't occur on union projects asRead More well...just because its...Union. RWO has no idea of how "cheap" the labor for this effort may or may not have been, or any other information that NONE of us are privy to as yet. So in light of the circumstance itself, I would say this was a project that was extremely costly indeed with one young man losing his life while trying to make a living in this economy, and another fighting for his. Prayers to the families of both...and hopes that THEY get some real answers very soon!

I want to know why a conviction JUST came in February for a murder from 1988.... wtf?!?!!? we areRead More going to implode under our own bullsh*t!! I'm sooooo tired of reading about convicted criminals crying about their constitutional rights being violated! And even worse, they're winning! When did our justice system get castrated?!?! The problem is the victims can't cry for their rights to NOT BE KILLED so they're being forgotten.... shame on our justice system and this idiot judge

My grandson works on Project for the Innocent and if you recall the news, Kash Register was inRead More prison for 34 years for a crime he didn't commit. It was a death penalty case. His innocence was finally proved. I used to be for the death penalty but now I'm not. Our judicial system is broken. This whole story is very tragic and horribly sad. After reading this article, it sounds as if thisRead More son has a serious jealousy issue regarding his parents love and his other siblings. I hope we will learn more about his motives as the story unfolds. In reality, jealousy is a very strong and negative emotion. As we just witnessed here, it is capable of killing an entire family (physically and emotionally). Just so sad...
Brainwashed_In_Church July 10, 2014 at 09:15 am
"...a serious jealousy issue...." When does an "issue" become aRead More "problem"? Don't we have "problems" anymore? Are they simply "issues"?

ZERO deaths is a GOOD thing! Hopefully, the ones arrested were put in JAIL! Keep up the good work,Read More law enforcement - keep these idiots off the road!
Dwight July 9, 2014 at 03:03 pm
Bob, no that is not what I meant. If you start at the beginning of the conversation, you will seeRead More that I am answering a question as to how many people were arrested. My intention is not to dodge checkpoints. My son just turned 16 and I have brought him through a couple of them to educate him as well. We had one in Mission Viejo a few weeks back. I checked the blotter to see if there were any arrests. I think there was one. Unless some do not get reported. There is no dodging DUI's down here. Eventually whomever does it, will get caught. D-
