I tried several times, unsuccessfully, to upload a video with interviews and photos of the SMCHSRead More game but the new Patch 2.0 wouldn't let me. I'll try later, so check back. It's worthwhile.

Chosin Reservor, a major part of modern Marine Corps History. You are a hero. Thank you for yourRead More service.
Ed Sorrels April 26, 2013 at 10:40 pm
Komfort, What the hell does your story have to do with those of us that took time out of our livesRead More to serve our country, He (Your Athl;ete) is a spoiled young man that think's it is all him, Not knowing or caring that if it wasn't for tyhose that have gone before him this might be a very different world. We were talking here about those of us that did take the time to serve, Especially in time of war ! If you can't say something nice try to refrain from saying anything !

Ken, It's strange but we Marines are like that, I know that my 8 were that way !

I admonished all. I also deleted your detractors' comments and reprinted yours that were undulyRead More deleted. I shall close this thread, as it's a disservice to those who care about the subject games. Next article, I encourage ALL of you to stick to the subject and learn to agree to disagree respectfully.

My two cents: El Toro is a three-point shooting team. It had a good half, and it had a bad half.Read More When you don't make your shots (as in the second half) you don't necessarily get a chance to set up on defense. It happened in the 1A finals at the arena, and happened in the second half against a very good Loyola team that is among the best in the state. Shooters shoot, and they keep shooting until their touch comes back. A shooting touch isn't a reflection on the coach. Turnovers against Loyola's pressure defense (after it started making some shots and had a chance to set up) hurt El Toro. There's all kinds of bad things that happen on the basketball court when you don't score.

"Heavy sigh. I'm the moderator here." Sorry, Penny. When you gave mfriedrich a positiveRead More response to his off-topic post I interpreted that as your encouragment of said discussion. It does get confusing at times from a poster's perspective. I sure you could understand that. :^) "JustUs, while your comments don't violate TOU, they do get close." It's uncanny that fact chucker can insult and provoke me and you don't name him specifically at all. But if I respond back in kind to his rude comments you name and admonish me. That is not what I would call an objective moderator. And if I violate your policies by observing and communicating the simple truth on this matter then do what you got to do. Just because you are a moderator you should not be allowed to play favorites here.

Gonzaga basketball is a great story this year. Undefeated in conference play, so pretty nice. ButRead More that strength of schedule of theirs...Sheesh! Most notable wins this season are over Illinois and at OK State....Uhhhhh,yeah. Taking a truckload of confidence into the tourney? Prrrrrrobably not.

ZAGS #1 AP and Coaches polls. First in school history! Not just the best in the west. The best inRead More the nation!!! Go Zags! Bring home a March Madness title! Play inside basketball, El Toro. If you live by the 3 pointer you die by the 3 pointer. Play like the ZAGS play. If Pangos or Bell are cold outside the line - they get the ball inside to Olynyk or Harris or Dower and take care of business. If you can't play inside ball - hang it up. Go ZAGS!

The Chargers got back in the game by attacking the basket -- almost half their points came from theRead More free throw line -- and using the press. But when they made their run to cut the 17-point deficit to three, they knocked down back-to-back three point shots (and followed with a three-point play). The problem is that high school athletes aren't used to shooting in an arena environment: they're used to seeing a backdrop. Shooting percentages almost always go down in an arena but as Coach Dixon said, he has to coach to the team's strength, and he's got a bunch of guard-sized shooters.

Good Post, having been a long time Laker fan, since they came to LA. I have seen the Game go fromRead More playing defense to a mostly offensive game only. Scoring has been up this year, it makes for better television. PED's help the players get by the 82 game Sch. and the 30 to 40 more for the playoffs, and also why we see alot more older players in the NBA, Steve Nash just turned 38, and he's plays Point Guard. and he's still playing very well...!!! The money to be made in the NBA is just way to much to really test for PED's. Jerry Buss past away this past week, a great owner will be Missed, He paid'd 98 million for the Lakers in 1979, they are on the Forbes top 10 list for sports teams world wide at # 10 worth 950,million...!!!

There was a time in this country when The Dumb and the Willfully Ignorant worked on assembly linesRead More and wanted nothing more when they got off work other than "Miller Time," a woman with a retarded sense of morality, and a double-wide they could call "home." Then came downsizing, outsourcing, Bush the Second's devaluation of the dollar, and the economic collapse of 2008. Now The Dumb and the Willfully Ignorant are unemployable so they spend their days commenting on the Patch. Even when the article deals with topics they know nothing of; they live to spew their ignorance and hatred. They don't use their real names because they claim speaking your mind can be dangerous. Tell that to Martin Luther King, Jr. Malcolm X, Nathan Hale, Thomas Paine... They are cowards and like all cowards they bully if you point out their complete lack of logic. They ruin online communication and any chance we may have had to learn from each other. They are why the Patch will fail and our society will continue to crumble around us.

Wrestling is an origional Olympic event. How can they justiy golf being more of an Olympic eventRead More than wrestling. Ancient Greeks who founded the games must be turning in their graves. Here is a clipping from Olympics from Wikipedia: The Ancient Olympic Games were religious and athletic festivals held every four years at the sanctuary of Zeus in Olympia, Greece. Competition was among representatives of several city-states and kingdoms of Ancient Greece. These Games featured mainly athletic but also combat sports such as wrestling and the pankration, horse and chariot racing events.

Probably not enough diversity in wrestling. We need more basketball and less wrestling. Let'sRead More promote diversity. :^)

Yes, the drive to make the team better certainly can breed disdain. They were so much better whenRead More they brought in fading stars at the tail ends of their careers to come across as helping great players such as Chuck Finely or Mark Langston. And it was so much better when the seats were cheaper with less people in the stadium while more often than not rooting for the other team. Ah yes, the good old days. Sheesh....

I loved the Angels when I was growing up in NoCal. I lived and died with every Nolan Ryan start.
Michael Huntley February 15, 2013 at 10:33 pm
My hatred for the Angels came after the 2002 season when they drove their ticket prices up and theyRead More gained a lot of "fans". It is more a dislike for their fan base than it is for the team itself. I know very very few diehard Angel fans.
