Janet Whitcomb is a freelance writer who grew up in Orange County and has lived in south Orange County for almost two decades. As a docent at Arden, the former home of famed 20th century actress Helena Modjeska, she enjoys talking with visitors about Modjeska and her times. Although an Anglophile and Russophile–read her essay about the last Tsar's eldest daughter at www.alexanderpalacetimemachine.org–she has written about Modjeska and other aspects of Orange County history (an early subject: the burning of Santa Ana's Chinatown) and looks forward to delving into Lake Forest's history.
