UPDATED: Vehicle Strikes, Kills Pedestrian in Lake Forest

A 52-year-old man died. His name has not yet been released.

A 52-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Lake Forest today and died at the scene, the Orange County Sheriff's Department reported.

The man, whose name was not immediately released, was killed near the intersection of Bake Parkway and Dimension Drive at 5:18 a.m., said sheriff's Lt. Steve Gil.

The driver, who remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, was eastbound when the collision happened, according to Orange County sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock.

A big rig driver who happened on the collision helped block traffic until authorities could get to the scene.
