PHOTOS: Naked Man Captured in Backyard

Neighbors watched as deputies asked the naked man to surrender.

Driving her daughter and a neighbor's son home from school Friday afternoon, Lake Forest resident Amy Quintilone saw a strange sight.

"Look, that man is running in nude shorts," she said, spotting a figure running toward her home.

As he came closer, she realized that a part of her sentence had been wrong. He wasn't wearing shorts.

The naked man ran up the window of her car and as she locked the doors, ducked into her backyard.

Quintilone had seen police cars when she was driving home and eventually, 15 converged near her home in the bird streets, off of Jeronimo Road.

By the time deputies entered her backyard, the man had jumped into a neighboring yard. But he returned shortly thereafter, hiding behind a pine tree.

After multiple warnings to surrender, the man was Tased and taken into custody.

"It was really crazy," Quintilone said.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department later identifed the man as Vu Xuan Do.

He was arrested Friday afternoon after leading Sheriff's deputies on a foot pursuit through the Lake Forest neighborhood and threatening them with a shovel—all while naked.

Do, 49, was taken into custody by deputies, who had originally responded to a traffic collision, sheriff's Lt. Gary Strachan said.

The 49-year-old got out of his car at the scene of the accident at Bake Parkway and Jeronimo Road, stripped off his clothes, and began running through several backyards in the neighborhood, Strachan said.

Do eventually picked up a shovel and threatened deputies with it, but did not use it to attack them. He also spit at them, Strachan said. He then threw the shovel down and fled to another backyard, where he was eventually subdued by deputies using the Taser, Strachan said.

The man suffered minor cuts and abrasions from "going over fences naked," Strachan said. "Not a good idea."

According to the Orange County Register, Do had gotten in an minor argument with a co-worker earlier in the day before driving away and attempting to hit other vehicles. Four vehicles ended up involved, with minor injuries to some occupants who were treated at a nearby hospital, the Register reported.
