Pros Head to Lake Forest for Skate Park Party

The official celebration of Etnies Skatepark's new wing starts Saturday afternoon.

Skateboard idols are rolling into town this weekend for a Saturday launch party celebrating the new wing of .

The expansion brings Etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest to 62,000 square feet, making it the nation's largest public skate park.

On Saturday, the official celebration of the new wing kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with a ceremonial tree planting.

To compensate for the six trees that were removed during , 13 new trees have been planted. The 14th—and final—tree will be added at the party by Lake Forest Mayor Peter Herzog and Etnies owner and Chief Executive Office Pierre-Andre Senizergues.

After the formalities conclude, the Etnies team will do a skateboarding demonstration at 6 p.m. and sign autographs.

Eight Etnies skateboard team riders have RSVPd for the event: Ryan Sheckler, Sean Malto, Tyler Bledsoe, Jose Rojo, Willow, Kyle Leeper, Ryan Pearce and Alex Midler.

A free taco truck will join the party at 6:45 p.m.

At 7 p.m., everyone will get a chance to skate alongside the Etnies skateboard team.

Music by The Blackouts begins at 8:30 p.m.

The expansion, which , has boosted attendance at the park and drawn out-of-town visitors eager to try the park's new features.
