Catholic Clergy Reassigned in Lake Forest

Catholics in Lake Forest will have to get used to some new faces when attending church next month. 

Most Rev. Kevin Vann, the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange, announced several changes throughout the county as it relates to the Catholic leadership. 

In Lake Forest, parishioners will lose two priests but gain two new ones, including an administrator.

According to the list released by the Diocese, new appointments are effective July 1.

Among the changes affecting Santiago de Compostela Church in Lake Forest: 

• Rev. Robert Capone, a Parochial Vicar from St. Vincent de Paul Church in Huntington Beach, becomes an administrator. 

• Rev. Troy Schneider, from Belgium, becomes a Parochial Vicar, effective August 1.

• Rev. Bill Barman, Parochial Vicar at Santiago de Compostela, assumes the same role at St. Pius V Church in Buena Park.

• Rev. David Gruver, Pastor of Santiago de Compostela, becomes Senior Priest at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Dana Point.

Changes in nearby Irvine include:

• Rev. Christopher Pham, Parochial Vicar at St. Hedwig Church in Los Alamitos, assumes the same role at St. John Neumann Church in Irvine.

• Rev. Anthony Vu, Parochial Vicar at St. John Neumann Church, assumes the same role at St. Angela Merici Church in Brea.
