Lisa Frost was remembered Wednesday in
Rancho Santa Margarita, along with thousands across the nation, on the
12th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks on the United
By Wednesday afternoon, at least 20 flower arrangements were resting at the Frost memorial at the edge of Lago Santa Margarita.
was 22 and had just graduated from Boston University when she perished
during the attacks. The daughter of Tom and Melanie Frost, Lisa was
returning home on United Airlines Flight 175, but the airliner was
hijacked and flown into the south tower of the World Trade Center. It
was the second jet to hit the towers that morning.
The memorial was dedicated on Dec. 21, 2001 on what would have been Frost's 23rd birthday.
memorial includes a Trabuco Oak enveloped by Pentagon-shaped wrought
iron that includes two spirals on the corners closest to the memorial.
The spirals represent the World Trade Center buildings, the fencing
represents the Pentagon, which was also attacked during the 9/11
attacks, and the Trabuco Oak represents rural Pennsylvania in which
United Flight 93 crashed after passengers overtook hijackers.
