Thousands Lose Power in Lake Forest, Mission Viejo

More than 3,100 customers are impacted after an underground equipment failure on Wednesday evening.

More than 3,100 customers of Southern California Edison were without power Wednesday evening in parts of Lake Forest and Mission Viejo.

The outage took place at 6:21 p.m., and according to SCE spokesperson Mashi Nyssen, it affected 3,167 units.

By 8:40 p.m., Nyssen said all but 13 customers were back on the grid.

She said an underground equipment failure caused the blackout, which went from Front Street to Majorca, Farthing to Los Alisos.

Nyssen said the 13 customers without power—and they were still without it at 10:15 p.m.—were in an apartment complex in the 21900 block of El Toro Road.
