Longtime Dispatch Editor Joins Lake Forest PR Firm

Jonathan Volzke is leaving the publication he launched 10 years ago to work for a company in Lake Forest. He was also editor for the San Clemente Times and Dana Point Times.

Jonathan Volzke, longtime editor at the Capistrano Dispatch, has announced he will be leaving the post next week to take a job with a public relations firm in Lake Forest.

Volzke said he will be joining Faubel Public Affairs, a company that specializes in working with public agencies in Southern California.

In the early days of Lake Forest, Faubel managed the public relations for the group that fought to keep the former El Toro Marine Corps base from being turned into an airport, according to the company's website.

"It was always part of my plan to transition to a new career at some point, and I know the Dispatch is in great hands with [CEO] Norb Garrett and the team at Picket Fence Media," Volzke told the .

"I'll remain a Capistrano resident, as a director of the Historical Society and hopefully be part of many exciting things happening here," Volzke said. "I've watched the team at Faubel work on several projects and I'm excited to join them on the next chapter in my life."

Volzke started covering San Juan Capistrano first for the Orange County Register. Since 2002, the Dispatch has been making a first weekly, and now semimonthly, appearance on driveways everywhere in town.

The Dispatch merged with the San Clemente Times in 2007, and the Dana Point Times was created in 2008, according to Volzke's biography at the Dispatch. Volzke also served as editor for the San Clemente Times and Dana Point Times.

His popular Coffee Chats (currently held at the on Friday mornings) regularly attract 60 or more locals to discuss the issues of the day.

Volzke said he will continue to host Coffee Chat while assuming his new duties at Faubel.
