Leftover Candy? Dentist Will Buy It, Donate to Soldiers

ProSmile Dentistry in Foothill Ranch partners with Operation Gratitude to send unopened Halloween candy to overseas troops.

A local dentistry office will collect leftover Halloween candy Thursday and Saturday to send to soldiers overseas.

ProSmile Dentistry in Foothill Ranch is again partnering with Operation Gratitude, an organization that mails care packages to American troops overseas.

The office, located at Suite A at 26720 Towne Centre Dr., will buy back unopened Halloween candy for $1 per pound from children younger than 13 and donate it to Operation Gratitude to include in their packages.

In 2011, the Foothill Ranch office collected 500 pounds of candy, with donors traveling from as far away as Norco and Tustin, said ProSmile dentist Parisa Zarbafian.

This year the office is limiting the amount of candy each child brings to 25 pounds to allow more children to contribute to the office's ultimate goal of 500 pounds of candy, Zarbafian said.

Anyone interested in donating candy is invited to come by from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to get cash for their extra Halloween treats.

Dr. Parisa is great!!! Such a great effort for our troops. Aside from her altruistic efforts, she's a fantastic dentist too.

I believe it is time we had representation that understands what it means to serve. Because, afterRead More all, isn't a House Member's job to serve the people of his/her district? And who understands service better than a former Marine Corps Colonel? I briefly met Colonel Raths yesterday and it is my belief that he is doing this for all the right reasons and will provide what has been missing in Congress for far too long---INTEGRITY, HONESTY, PATRIOTISM, SELFLESSNESS & SERVICE. And if I heard correctly, yesterday, he has already hired the best possible company, a company with an extremely innovative and intelligent leader, to run his campaign. This company will serve him well and when the facts come about about Greg Raths, the people of the 45th District will have the easiest choice at the polls in quite some time. This is the man who will do the right thing for his district 10 times out of 10. Go Greg! When you find out the amazingly wonderful things he has done for his country, there really is no choice. Colonel Greg Raths USMC Retired for Congress, 2014.
