Fourth of July Events in Lake Forest

The city has its traditional pancake breakfast, 5K and Independence Day parade.

With July just around the corner, it's time to mark your calendars for Lake Forest's fun-filled Independence Day events.

  • The activities start at 7 a.m. in front of  with the annual Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast. The three-hour breakfast is $5 per person.
  • At 7:30 a.m., put on your sneakers for El Toro High School's 17th annual Firecracker 5K Run/Walk, with proceeds benefitting the school's Parent Student Teacher Organization, which purchases educational supplies, equipment and programs for the campus. The race starts and finishes at the corner of Lake Forest Drive and Serrano Road. Registration is $30 for adults and $10 for students with an ID card. In-person registration is available Sunday, the day before the race, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in front of . Race-day registration runs from 6 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. near the race start line. Last year's event drew nearly 1,500 participants. For info and online registration, visit the race website.
  • The Independence Day Parade begins at 10 a.m., also in front of El Toro High, at the corner of Toledo Way and Ridge Route Drive. The parade ends on Serrano Road, before Ridge Route Drive. The event also celebrates the city's upcoming two-decade anniversary. More than 100 entrants are expected.
