Soroptimist International is an service organization of women who work to improve the lives of women and girls in their local community and throughout the world.
The Soroptimist Club of Lake Forest will be having its annual fundraiser—“Bras 4 A Cause”—on April 28 at the Norman P. Murray Community Center. Each year, bras are created and judged based upon a theme.
For 2012 the theme is “Play On Words.” Besides acting as judges, guests will be magically entertained by Michael Stellman and dinner will be provided by Outback Steakhouse.
Funds raised from the gala will go toward the Soroptimist Club's signature project of providing free mammograms for uninsured/underinsured women under 40, and other SILF projects.
Money earned will also fund their cash awards; the Violet Richardson Award is given to a girl in recognition of her volunteer efforts; the Women’s Opportunity Award is given to a women in need of assistance with furthering her education or job skills; and the Ruby Award is given to an organization that helps women and girls.
Gala tickets are $45 each. This year the grand opportunity prize is fifty-two $25 restaurant gift cards (valued at $1,300). Dine out once a week for a year! Raffle tickets are priced at $10 each.
