A man was in custody today for allegedly firing shots near an equestrian center at Jackson Ranch in Silverado Canyon.

No injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred Wednesday, about 11 a.m., at Williams Canyon and Modjeska Canyon roads, Orange County sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock said. Witnesses said they heard bullets whizzing by them and ricocheting off trees, Hallock said.

Tyler Tennigkeit, 22, was detained and questioned shortly afterward at the site of a traffic crash on Santiago Canyon Road; he was later arrested and booked on suspicion of attempted murder, and he remained in custody this morning, Hallock said.

Tennigkeit is a resident of Silverado Canyon.

Authorities served a search warrant Wednesday night at the suspect's residence, which is adjacent to the equestrian center, and they recovered a weapon from his bedroom, along with shell casings outside his home that matched the weapon, Hallock said.

"The investigation is ongoing, and (there is) no indication as to why the suspect was shooting," Hallock said.

When authorities first went to the equestrian center on the shots-fired report, they evacuated several people from the area. SWAT officers later got seven to eight more people off the property, Hallock said.
