Burglar Walks Away With Christmas Gift, and Other Cop Calls

The following is a selection of calls from Lake Forest to the Orange County Sheriff's Department from Dec. 17 to Dec. 21.

A Pine Lake Lane resident reported to police 8 a.m. Monday that a neighbor's home was burglarized the night before.

The caller and several neighbors reportedly found property in their backyards, as well as a crow bar. The apparent victim was not aware that someone had come into his or her house. The caller said he heard noises at about 2 a.m., but thought it was a cat knocking things down. The victim later called the police as well.

The suspected burglar reportedly entered through partly open window in the living room and left through sliding glass door with a Christmas present.

Citizen assist 2:20 a.m., Tuesday, El Toro Road/Muirlands Boulevard. The caller said a tow truck driver stopped a woman who was driving on El Toro. She seemed disoriented and said she was trying to get home in Mission Viejo.

Welfare check 12:55 a.m., Tuesday, 18900 block of Singingwood Circle. The caller asked for a welfare check on her son who called her and said "he couldn't take it anymore and he couldn't sleep there" and he hung up the phone. She tried calling her parents but couldn't reach anyone.

Stolen vehicle 11:24 a.m., Monday, 25800 block of Trabuco Road. The caller reported a theft of a green Honda Accord.

Traffic hazard 11:22 a.m., Monday, El Toro Road at Portola Parkway. The caller said a white van was stalled in lanes.

Traffic hazard 10:23 a.m., Monday, Rockfield Boulevard/Lake Forest Drive. The caller said a truck with its hood up was blocking traffic.

Assist outside agency 10:07 a.m., Monday, Portola Parkway/Lake Forest Drive. The caller said police assistance was needed to get a large dog out of the roadway.

Assist outside agency 10 a.m., Monday, Rockfield Boulevard/El Toro Road. The caller said a female driver witnessed a white pick-up drop a bucket of paint at the intersection. The car drove to the Home Depot parking lot.

Hit and run misdemeanor report 8:38 a.m., Monday, Rimhurst Drive/Montcliff Drive. The caller reported a hit and run. The suspect later returned.

Disturbance 7:13 a.m., Monday, 22800 block of Taurus Lane. The caller said her ex-boyfriend was out of control and was unable to provide more details. The man was heard yelling in the background. The man said she threw hot coffee in his face. Kerstin Ursula Schoeps, a 29-year-old accountant, was arrested. 

Suspicious person/circumstances 12:38 a.m., Monday, 24900 block of Muirlands Boulevard. The caller said a man was looking into a truck near the laundry area, which is surrounded by wood and chain link fencing. The caller saw the man from his window.

Reckless driving 4:33 p.m., Friday, Galaxy Lane/Leo Lane. The caller said a truck was racing up and down the street.

Suspicious person/circumstances 3:54 p.m., Friday, Trabuco Road/Cherry Avenue. The caller said about 10 male and female juveniles between 15-years-old and 16-years-old were at the park, possibly doing drugs. The caller said they were in a fight with a girl earlier.

Disturbance 2:38 p.m., Friday, 24900 block of Muirlands Boulevard. The caller said a female neighbor was fighting with her roommate. The woman was outside, banging on doors. The caller said she put her arm through a glass door and was bleeding.

Keep the peace 2:20 p.m., Friday, 20500 block of Canada Road. The caller said a person at the shop was refusing to take the caller's credit card in payment for services because the caller called the Better Business Bureau on the business.
