Injured Teen Airlifted from Whiting Ranch

Firefighters rescue a hurt 14-year-old mountain biker.

A teen who was mountain biking in Whiting Ranch on Thursday evening suffered head injuries and was rescued by helicopter, authorities said.

The 14-year-old boy was hoisted out of the park around 7 p.m., said OCFA Capt. Marc Stone.

A helicopter airlifted the hurt teen to a local hospital.

It's unclear how exactly the boy was injured. Stone did not know whether he had been with his parents or had been wearing a helmet.

The helicopter took the teen to Mission Hospital where he was admitted for treatment.
