Lake Forest in Flash Flood Warning Zone

Despite an advisory from the National Weather Service, authorities say there's been no flooding in Lake Forest.

A flash-flood watch issued  by the National Weather Service Monday around noon remains in effect for most of South Orange County, including Lake Forest.

The advisory includes the foothill areas of the Santa Ana Mountains, the range that includes the two peaks that make up Saddleback Ridge. An online National Weather Service map indicates that Lake Forest in the area in danger of flash floods.

The flood warning is expected to remain in effect through Wednesday afternoon.

"A large plume of deep layer moisture ahead of an approaching low pressure system is expected to continue bringing steady rainfall," the advisory, in part, reads. "This will create the potential for flooding."

Contacted around midnight, Orange County Sheriff's Department Lt. Lloyd Downing, the watch commander, said that most of the department's efforts thus far have focused on flooding in the foothill canyons, like Modjeska Canyon and Blackstar Canyon. Some roads in those areas have been closed.
