Orange County Sheriff's deputies arrested Dennis Walsh, president of the Saddleback Valley Unified school board, Monday night on suspicion of resisting arrest.

Earlier, a car believed to belong to Walsh, was reportedly involved in a non-injury collision with a fire hydrant, said sheriff's spokeswoman Gail Krause. Deputies went to Walsh's home in Lake Forest and saw the suspected car in the driveway.

"When deputies told the registered owner, Dennis Walsh, that the vehicle was evidence in the non-injury, hit-and-run collision and would need to be towed, he became uncooperative and tried to stop the deputies from towing the vehicle," Krause said.

The hit and run investigation is ongoing with an unnamed suspect, she said.

Walsh and a representative of the school district could not be reached for comment.
