2-Year-Old Nearly Drowns in Lake Forest Hot Tub

The boy is found facedown in the water and not breathing. His grandmother begins CPR and revives the child.

A 2-year-old boy was found facedown and not breathing in a hot tub outside a Lake Forest home late Sunday morning, but a relative who found the child was able to revive him before paramedics arrived, according to an Orange County Fire Authority spokesman.

The boy was taken to Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills and is in good condition, said Capt. John Muir.

“I was over there and he was looking good,” Muir said.

Medics responded to the call of a possible drowning at 11:52 a.m. in the 60 block of Avignon Avenue, Muir said. The boy’s grandmother found him in the tub, unconscious and not breathing. She began CPR and got the boy to breathe again, Muir said.

Medics arrived and took over caring for the boy and drove him to Saddleback. He will be transferred to CHOC Children’s Hospital in Orange for observation.
