A 24-year-old Westminster man was sentenced to 25 years in prison Monday for scalding a baby girl in water hotter than 120 degrees, severely burning and disfiguring her.

At the sentencing of Alfred Alexander Hollimon, a couple in the process of adopting the girl -- to whom Hollimon is related -- submitted a victim impact statement describing how the girl will never be able to feel comfortable wearing clothes or go to the beach without feeling self-conscious because of her injuries.

A jury in March found Hollimon guilty of two felony counts of child abuse, one felony count of mayhem, and a sentencing enhancement for causing great bodily injury to a child. He also had a felony "strike" in 2008 for attempted robbery in Nevada.

Hollimon drew a bath for the girl on Jan. 26, 2013, woke the baby from a nap and dipped the lower half of her body into the hot water, then pulled her out and started removing blistered skin, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Hollimon's mother, who was nearby, called 911, and the girl was taken to UC Irvine Regional Burn Center, where she was treated for third-degree burns on her legs, calves, feet, and buttocks.

X-rays showed she also suffered skull fractures, as well as spinal, rib and arm fractures. The burns will require skin grafts until she stops growing.
