Top Lake Forest Parade Entries Honored

Longtime members of the city's parade committee also received recognition Tuesday evening.

Boy Scouts, cheerleaders and talented Little Leaguers packed the City Council chamber Tuesday evening for a presentation recognizing the winning entries in Lake Forests' 2011 Independence Parade.

This year’s parade marked the city’s 20th annual Fourth of July festivities, and also celebrated the city’s 20th anniversary of incorporation, approaching this December.

“This truly did solely start from the community,” said Mayor Peter Herzog of the parade.

Lake Forest boasts the only Fourth of July parade in South Orange County, and it regularly impresses visitors from out of town with its size, he added.

The members of the parade committee, which organizes the annual celebration, attended the meeting in matching white polos and were recognized for their dedication to the annual event.
