Lake Forest Council Cancels First Meeting in City's History

The City Council, which has met like clockwork since it first convened in 1991, is taking Tuesday off.

If some Lake Forest city staffers are at a loss come 7 p.m. Tuesday night, they can be forgiven.

The City Council, which has met regularly since Lake Forest's incorporation in 1991, is taking the night off.

That means the meetings have been taking place like clockwork for nearly 20 years. (Celebrations are scheduled to take place this winter.)

This Tuesday, on the day the council would normally meet, three council members are out of town, leaving only two able to attend.

Their absences would keep the council from voting, since at least three council members must be in attendance to rule on any item that comes before them.

The five-person council convenes twice a month, on the first and third Tuesdays, at 7 p.m.

Barring any sudden travel plans, the council will regroup Oct. 4.

The public portion of the council's semimonthly meetings begins at 7 p.m. in .
