A quick look at the candidates and propositions affecting Lake Forest.

Here's a rundown of candidates and ballot measures facing Lake Forest voters in Tuesday's election.

Lake Forest City Council

Two seats are open on the Lake Forest City Council. They're currently held by Marcia Rudolph, a member of the city's founding council, and Mark Tettemer, who's been on the council since 2004.

Tettemer has decided not to run. Including incumbent Rudolph, there are seven contenders for the two seats:

Saddleback Valley Unified School District

The Saddleback Valley Unified School District will have three trustee seats open. Four candidates, including the three current board members, are on the ballot.

Incumbents Ginny Fay Aitkens, Don Sedgwick and Suzie Swartz are aiming for re-election. Challenger Earl Carraway is campaigning for a term on the board.

Congress

In the 45th Congressional District U.S. Congressman John Campbell (R) will go up against Irvine Mayor Suhkee Kang.

United States Senate

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D) will face Republican Challenger Elizabeth Emken in the race to represent California. One of the most entrenched incumbents in the senate, Feinstein has a whopping fundraising lead with $9,148,030 to Emken’s $676,726. Though she currently lives in Northern California, Emken grew up in Orange County.

State Senate

Sen. Mimi Walters will takes on attorney Steve Young in another matchup for the 37th Senate District.

State Assembly

Assemblyman Don Wagner will compete with opponent Christina Avalos for the 68th Assembly District seat.
