The city of Lake Forest is seeking five seniors to join a new advisory board that will offer recommendations on senior programs and activities run by the city.
Residents of Lake Forest age 50 and older are invited to submit applications for the Senior Advisory Board.
The five-member group will be appointed by the city's Parks and Recreation Commission and advise the commission with regard to senior-specific issues.
In 2013, the board will meet quarterly at 10 a.m. on the following Wednesdays: Jan. 9, April 10, July 10, and Oct. 9.
In addition to attending the quarterly meetings, Senior Advisory Board members are expected to attend some Parks and Recreation Commission meetings. That commission meets the third Thursday of each month.
Applications for a position on the board will be available Monday, Oct. 8, at the Senior Scene Clubhouse at Lake Forest City Hall, 25550 Commercentre Dr., and online at lakeforestca.gov/seniors.
The deadline for applications is Nov. 1.
Parks and Recreation commissioners will interview candidates at 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at City Hall, 25550 Commercentre Dr.
Our city staff do a good job providing programs and activities for seniors, but there is no substitute for a center. This should be priority one. After 20 years our seniors deserve what virtually every other senior citizen in Orange County has.
