Engineer Robots, Carnival Rides, Catapults in Lake Forest... with Legos

Play-Well TEKnologies will hold their workshops at Lake Forest City Hall.

Learning about engineering has the potential to be incredibly lame. There's all sorts of math involved, as well as complex physical principles...

But add thousands of Legos, batteries and motors, and things start to get a lot more interesting.

This month, the Play-Well TEKnologies company is holding workshops all over Orange County, including Lake Forest City Hall, to teach kids the principles of engineering through building motorized Lego creations.

Glen Inducil of Play-Well said the program started in the Bay Area and has spread throughout California and the U.S. through summer camps and after-school programs.

"Our president is an engineer," Inducil said. "He liked to work with kids and do summer camps with various materials. He found Legos were the best."
