Charger Water Polo Player Named First Team All American

Two players from El Toro are honored, but Joseph Colton gets tabbed as a first-teamer. A third Charger is named honorable mention.

Two water polo players from El Toro High have been named high school all-Americans. 

The players—one recently graduated and the other coming back for his senior season in the fall—were named to the 2012-13 NISCA/Speedo Boys All-America Water Polo Team.

Recently graduated Joey Colton was a first-team selection. Colton was one of four Orange County players named to the 23-person first team. Others were senior Jon Walters and junior Baron McGuin from Mater Dei, and senior Sam Pfeil from Dana Hills.

Byron Rivers, a junior last season for El Toro, was named to the fourth team. 

The awards are sanctioned by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association.

  • Christian Macias, senior, Mission Viejo, fifth team
  • Joshua Mundell, senior, El Toro, honorable mention
  • Riley Thomas, senior, Laguna Beach, honorable mention
  • Kyle Trush, senior, Corona del Mar, honorable mention
