In Division 3AA

Laguna Hills 53, Yorba Linda 46: The fourth-seeded Hawks stunned top-seeded Yorba Linda as Celia Marfone scored 25 points and Maddy Ziering-Smith scored 14. The semifinal victory sends Laguna Hills (21-8) to the section championship game for the fifth time; the Hawks previously won titles in 1997, 2000, 2007 and 2008. Laguna Hills also got a big defensive effort from Anna Muum, who had 10 blocked shots. The victory by Laguna Hills snapped the Mustangs' 15-game winning streak and ended the coaching career of Marc Hill, who announced this would be his final season; he coached for many years at Esperanza before taking over Yorba Linda (23-6), which was competing in only its second varsity season.
