OC Tennis Team Takes 2nd at USTA
The adult mixed-doubles tennis squad, which includes players from Lake Forest, Newport Coast and Ladera Ranch, lost in the championship match.
An Irvine tennis team finished second at the U.S. Tennis Association League 10.0 Adult Mixed Doubles National Championships in Tucson, according to the USTA.
The Irvine team, representing the USTA Southern California Section, lost 3-0 to a team from Washington, D.C., in the championship match. Last Saturday afternoon, it defeated a team from Sarasota, Fla., 2-1 in the semifinals. The team had won its round-robin flight Friday and Saturday.
Team members include Deidre Wilson (Lake Forest), Michael Duong (Newport Coast), Quynh N. Le (Irvine), Bryn Mercado (Irvine), Laurent Dropsy (Irvine) and William G. Casas (Ladera Ranch). They play at Lower PetersCanyon Community Park.

The USTA League Mixed Doubles is for males and females 18 and older. Teams are formed by combining the two player’s individual National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) ratings.
The USTA League began in 1980. More than 835,000 players across the nation are in the league.
