Huge Annual Garage Sale Starts Saturday

Sunwood Street Faire brings masses of bargain shoppers to Lake Forest on the last full weekend of July.

Thousands will swarm a Lake Forest neighborhood this weekend for the annual Sunwood Street Faire, a garage sale of epic proportions.

It's the 34th annual neighborhood sale organized by Brenda Flick, a Realtor who lives and works in the Sunwood neighborhood off of El Toro Road, between Trabuco Road and Toledo Way.

Each year, approximately 200 homeowners in the 237-home tract participate, with up to 150 expected to open up shop in their driveway on Saturday alone.

Shoppers begin the weekend at about 7 a.m. Saturday, and sellers hock wares through about 1 p.m., Flick said.

Sunday is a more relaxed day, with fewer attendees, but shoppers can expect to find heavy discounts on items that didn't find a new home Saturday.

While some go for the deals and others for the camraderie, many look forward each year to the egg rolls sold by an area homeowner.

She'll be back again this year, and plans to make a minimum of 2,000 of the fried favorites, Flick said.

Enter the neighborhood from El Toro Road at Serrano Road or Toledo Way, or take Cherry Avenue to Princeton Way.

Find sellers on the following streets: Auburn Dale Drive, Chapel Hill Drive, Dartmouth Circle, Foxborough Way, Heatherow Circle, Marylhurst Court, Revere Road, Rockford Drive, Toledo Way, Westover Circle and Williamsburg Court.

Food and maps of the area will be available.
