Comedy Show To Benefit Lake Forest Teen

Money raised at the Welcome Home Jimmy Comedy Jam comedy jam Friday evening in Huntington Beach will go to support Jimmy Pequeno, a Lake Forest 18-year-old who was severely injured in a car accident last year.

Proceeds from a Friday evening comedy show in Huntington Beach will go to the family of Jimmy Pequeno, a Lake Forest teen severely injured in a 2011 car crash.

Edwin San Juan is headlining the show at the Hotel Huntington Beach, which is being called the Welcome Home Jimmy Comedy Jam. George Perez is hosting. General admission tickets to the show are $25. To get tickets, email santanarose@att.blackberry.net. The hotel is offering a discounted room rate for Friday evening for guests who mention that they are there for the Jimmy Comedy Jam.

Guests need to be at least 21 years old and "dress to impress," according to event organizers.

Pequeno recently returned to his Lake Forest home after seven months of hospitalization. A  in 2011 wrapped his vehicle around a light pole and landed him in a medically-induced coma with life-threatening injuries including skull fractures and a collapsed lung.

His girlfriend, senior Nicole Patteson, and the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs of which his father, Deputy Robert Pequeno, is a member, played instrumental roles in raising enough money to bring home the 18-year-old from the hospital.

Mike McElheny, of Laguna Beach-based contracting company McElheny Construction, donated his time and recruited others in the industry to turn a sunroom at the back of the Pequenos' Lake Forest home into a rehab room for his return.

As of Pequeno's February return home, more than half of the estimated $100,000 needed to assist the family with medical bills had been raised, according to a spokewoman with the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs.
