Pizzeria Raises Money for Lake Forest Teen Hurt in Crash

Family hopes to bring Jimmy Pequeno home soon.

A local pizzeria served up a slice of goodwill Monday for a Lake Forest Teen injured in a car crash.

According to the family’s website, when Pequeno is released from rehabilitation hospital, he will need 24-hour care and a special room in the family’s house to aid his recovery.

The expected price tag for the addition to the Pequeno home is $100,000.

That’s where folks such as come in. His fundraiser runs Monday and Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. this week and the next.

During the event, the pizzeria—located near the corner of Serrano and Lake Forest—will give 20 percent of the sales to the Pequeno family.

Jahanarai said when a friend of the family asked him about raising money, “we said we would be more than happy to help out.”

“We used to do [similar fundraisers] in Chicago,” said Jahanarai, who owned a pizzeria in the Windy City before he and his family moved to California.

A sign in front of the store reads, “We need your help to bring Jimmy home! Please come in and join our efforts to make a difference. For more information, please visit www.bringjimmyhome.com.

After the first night of the fundraiser ended Monday, Jahanarai said it netted about $300 for the family.

He said he does it to support his patrons.

“When they [customers] give us business, that’s the least we can do,” Jahanarai said.
