Sick Boy to Benefit From Pizzeria's Sunday Fundraiser

A Lake Forest pizzeria will donate a portion of proceeds to Michael Young, a Mission Viejo boy with a brain disorder.

A Lake Forest restaurant is donating Sunday's proceeds to help a sick Mission Viejo boy, according to the Orange County Register

Eight-year-old Michael Young has brain ischemia, a condition which limits adequate blood flow to the sensory area of his brain.

Left untreated, he could have difficulty with complex learning tasks and reductions in his short-term memory. Eventually, cognitive disturbances and decreased motor control can occur as a result of the limited blood flow.

Diners at  at Trabuco Road and Bake Parkway on Sunday can support the fundraiser by saying they are "eating for Michael."

Proceeds will help pay for hyperbaric oxygen therapy to improve blood flow to his brain. His family is raising funds so the Mission Viejo boy can undergo 40 such treatments this summer.

Proceeds from the fundraiser at Cicero's in Lake Forest will help offset the cost of the therapy sessions, reports the Register.

Michael's mother, Robyn Young, has set up a website with information about his condition at http://ocmotherwarrior.com/fundraisers.
